This was fantastic, utterly loved it and it was just what I was looking for.

This starts when Brett and Sarah meet and get together. We watch how they came to be a loving married couple, we saw how Sarah was a bright, bubbly happy woman with the world at her feet. We saw and felt how much Brett loved her but what happens when one night the life you had and thought you would always have is ripped away from you? When the one person you loved above everyone else is taken. Snatched away not by death, but by a tragic accident that ruined more than just two lives.

Synopis

I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was twenty-one years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn’t die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had.

I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can’t hold on to someone that doesn’t exist anymore.

It wasn’t until I met Jesse Addison, a barista at the local coffee shop, that I realized I didn’t just lose Sarah that tragic night, I lost myself as well. Jesse taught me how to let go of the past and learn to love again. But what happens when your past haunts your present and the woman you used to love refuses to accept the woman you can’t live without?

What I thought.

Um wow, this was a wild roller coaster ride full of ups and downs. For me it had everything I needed in a good book, flawed characters, real emotions, heartbreak, believable character growth, strong women, hunky hot men , drama, twist and turns, sweetness, lots of sex (but not gross over the top sex) seriously it was all there. I thought it flowed nicely and was well paced and timed.  The writing was executed well and flowed seamlessly from one POV to the other, and the best bit is  Aly Martinez is a debuting author that means she can only get better and better as far as I’m concerned!!

It started out a little slow for me and from the first page I didn’t overly like Sarah, that opinion never changed at all, at the end I just pitted her but never liked her even before the accident. I thought a bit of what she did to Jesse and Brett to be a bit over the top but then I guess she was rather sick at the time and fell under the mentally ill category.

I loved Jesse she was so shy, submissive and so weak to begin with and to see her grow as a person was a real joy, it doesn’t often happen now days, more often than not it’s the other way around the strong ones turn in to mushy idiots that do nothing but talk about how hot their man is and how good the orgasms are. Don’t get me wrong there was a lot of talk of orgasms and that going on, but it wasn’t all that was going on. Jesse was someone real and by the end of it someone I wanted to be friends with.

I felt so bad for Bret I could so understand how he was feeling. Not because I have ever experienced anything like this before but because it was so well written and thought out, he was so believable and my heart utterly broke for him. I did think at one point everyone was giving him a bit of a hard time and it was a little undeserved. He was sweet and sexy and a cop to-boot who doesn’t like a good ole cop in their fiction??

The supporting cast was awesome. I loved Caleb and am so hanging on out for his book to come out!!!

“Do you promise to tell me if you realize you’ll never be able to fall in love with me? You know...not string me along.”

“ I swear on my life.”

“Do you promise to tell me the split second that you realize how stupid you are, and that you have loved me all along?”

“ I look forward to it.”
